Our instructional program for ages 5-9 leverages a fun approach to teaching basic fundamentals and skills using structured drills and game play. Our goal is to establish a foundation for success for all participants regardless of skill level or future aspirations in the sport.

Ages 5-6 play on 8-foot hoops; 7-9 year-olds use 9-foot hoops

Intermediate Leagues are designed for players with a firm grasp of the fundamentals and readiness for moderate competition. There are no tryouts or evaluations, and teams are established by school attendance area (play with your friends!) as much as possible, practice once a week and play one or two games on Friday nights or Saturdays in the Madison or Sun Prairie areas. WIAA rules and referees are used. The schedule includes 9-10 regular season games and an end-of-season tournament, and all players get a jersey.

YMCA Intermediate Leagues are good options for kids and families looking for a more moderate time commitment and minimal travel.

Travel teams are designed for players who have played a significant amount of organized basketball and developed beyond the basic fundamentals. A fair amount of travel and time commitment is required. Teams practice twice per week and compete in the Badger Development League, playing six weekends (three games per weekend) over a season that lasts about four months. Teams may also participate in independent tournaments (additional fees may apply). Full uniforms are included.

Rosters are assembled following an evaluation process led by the West Regents High School coaching staff. Players must reside in the West attendance area of the Madison Metropolitan School District for this feeder program. Players are not guaranteed equal playing time, and parents may be asked to volunteer for team functions. Mandatory coaches meeting TBA.
