YDC United Swim Team
Our Swim Team programs focus on the development of competitive swimming skills for all ages and abilities. Our trained coaches work to improve swimmers’ technique, endurance, and the promotion of a healthy lifestyle. Our program embraces the YMCA’s core values and promotes progression at an individual level. Individual groups are organized by ability levels and are designed to help team members improve and refine the four competitive strokes, sets, starts, and finishes.
Swimmers must register for the full program (Sept – Mar). Any exceptions must be approved by the Director.
One Time Registration Fee and Monthly Deposits are payable at the time of registration. Balance of dues are paid monthly with auto deduct.

YDC Swim Team Trials
For swimmers new to YDC or swim team in general. Coaches will evaluate strokes and endurance and offer a practice group recommendation. If you were on YDC team last year, you do not need to attend. Past participants: talk with your coaches if you are not sure which group to sign up for! These will occur in the beginning of August 2024.
YDC Competitive Swim Team
Swimmers are expected to attend meets with the team. This program is for Y members only.
1 White: The focus of this group is developing the proper mechanics for the four competitive strokes along with starts and turns. Swimmers need to be able to swim at least one length of the pool without stopping. Generally ages 5-8
2 Red: This group continues to focus on learning and perfecting strokes, turns and starts and will also work on becoming comfortable with competition and racing. Participants must be able to swim 200 continuous freestyle yards and at least 25-50 yards of all competitive strokes including starts and turns. Generally ages 8-10
3 Blue: The focus here is on perfecting strokes and swim meet regulations for competition. In addition, this group will be exposed to endurance-based interval training and developing race strategies. Generally ages 10-12
4 Bronze: This group will expose swimmers to more-advanced, endurance-based training while continuing to perfect stroke technique, starts and turns. Swimmers will also be introduced to goal setting and individual race strategies. Generally ages 13-15
5 Silver: This group will focus on training for competition, goal-setting, developing a base of endurance, advanced strokes and start and turn techniques. Swimmers will develop individual race strategies. Generally ages 13+ High School Age
6 Gold: This level focuses on mastery of advanced stroke, start and turn techniques, maintaining a high endurance base, advanced racing strategies and mental meet preparation. High School Age

Spring Clinic
White – Blue: Spring Stroke clinic: swimmers wanting to to keep up with their swimming and focus on specific strokes each week. ( 5-5:50)
Bronze – Gold- Comp +: Higher level swimmers that are looking to do up to 3 Long Course meets between April and June ( 5:15-6:45)

Swim Team Prep
Develop the 4 competative strokes and build endurance at a faster pace than swimming lessons. Just like swim team practice without committing to a seven month swim team season.
BEGINNERS
Participants must be able to swim 25 yards without stopping and have a basic knowledge of front crawl, back crawl, breaststroke and butterfly. Focuses on all aspects of competitive swimming including stroke work, starts and turns.
INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED
This group is geared toward swimmers that can already swim all four competitive strokes. Participants must be able to swim 100 yards without stopping in backstroke and front crawl. In addition they must also be able to swim 50 yards of breaststroke and butterfly. Focus will be put on all aspects of competitive swimming including stroke work, starts and turns.
